Historical
GC I / 10 was created in
November 1939 following the dissolution of AFN's Marching Wing.
GC I / 10, together with GC I / 9 and GC II / 9 created during the
same period, constitute the "GPIC" (Provisional Fighting
Training Group), which is responsible for training the personnel
present in AFN. The insignia of this group are not known precisely.
GC I / 10 staff are made
up of reservists and less experienced pilots remaining in AFN. As
for the equipment, it consists of aircrafts belonging to the 5th
GAC dissolved: 18 D501 and D500 and 22 Morane Saulnier MS406.
The life of the Group until
the Armistice will be very chaotic. Its Aircraft and its pilots
will be regularly transferred to the Fighter Group in Metropolitan
France, reducing the group's potential to the lowest level before
receiving new aircraft and young pilots.
GC I / 10 will finally be
dissolved on August 25, 1940.
