Surveillance Squadron 8S-5

Historical

At the outbreak of the conflict, is based in Papeete, a section of strong Surveillance of 3 aircrafts. Under the command of Captain de Corvette BRACHET, monitoring missions are put in place but remain rare, because of the reduced number of aircraft available within the unit.

In January 1940, the Section became Escadrille 8S-5 and Captain de Corvette GRANGE replaced Lieutenant Commander BRACHET. The surveillance missions continue until Armisitice and beyond, until the attachment of Oceania to Free France, September 4, 1940.
