Surveillance Squadron 3S-5


Historical

The squadron was created on August 30, 1939 from elements of the training and servitudes section of Hyères. The equipment consists of Potez 25A2 and Potez 25TOE.

Initially, the unit carries out target towing missions for the benefit of the AC-2 Fighting Squadron but also the DCA of the Toulon base's ships.

In February 1940, seaplanes Lioré & Olivier LeO H43 replace the Potez. The crews will carry out on this new machine, surveillance missions around Toulon and the Mediterranean coast.

Armisitice will end the Campaign and the unit will be dissolved soon after.
