Surveillance Squadron 8S-4

Historical

Squadron 8S-4 was born on December 20, 1939, but it was not until January 1940 that crews arrived in Tripoli under the command of Lieutenant CHÂTEL. The first 3 Loire 130, which must constitute the equipment of the Squadron, are collected at the end of January only, and it is on a Lioré & Olivier LeO H242 of Air France that the crews make their first missions.

After the arrival of 3 other copies of Loire 130, in May 1940, the squadron, now complete, chained coastal surveillace missions off Lebanon, or from the base of Cyprus.
