Historical
The squadron 3S-1 was born
in August 1931, on a base for hydroplane near Hyères. At
the declaration of the conflict, the unit joins the base of Saint-Mandrier.
From this base, she will carry out, up to Armisitice, surveillance
missions near Toulon.
Equipped first of CAMS 37,
it receives in May 1938 Gourdou-Leseurre GL-812, then LéO
H43 from February 1940. These are supposed to replace the Gourdou-Leseurre,
but they are victims of multiple failures, and finally, the Gordou-Leseurre
are kept to complete the material complement.
The squadron will finally
be dissolved on August 1st, 1940.
