Historical

In May 1924, the new design office of the CAMS Company, directed by Maurice HUREL, designed a seaplane capable of being used from a naval base or a ship of the line: the CAMS 37
The prototype of rustic construction, is presented in the form of a three-seater seaplane Biplan in wood with folding wings. Its engine, installed in propulsive, is a 12-cylinder Lorraine V engine, cooled by liquid, of 400 hp. It is installed between the wings, carried by a set of masts.
The second prototype has an amphibious hull (with wheels) and is powered by a more powerful 450 hp Lorraine. The two aircraft make their first flights at the beginning of 1926. The Naval Aviation, interested, places an order for the amphibious version, CAMS 37A: 185 copies will be built.
For advertising purposes, a CAMS 37 GR (Grand Raid) version will fly more than 22000 kms in Africa between October 12, 1926 and March 9, 1927.
From October 1928, the first units received the new aircraft, either on land (Escadrille 4S1 in Caruba) or on board (Croissiers Tourville and Cuirassé Edgard QUINET); from November 1930, the CAMS 37 will also equip a squadron in Indochina.
At the outbreak of the conflict in 1939, the CAMS 37 was out of fashion and was logically assigned to training or to servitude tasks. However, two new units, the 2S-S and 2S-4, were created during mobilization and were equipped with old CAMS 37s... They will carry out coastal patrols and surveillance missions.
It is likely that the last aircraft flew in Indochina, until 1942.
In the end, the CAMS 37 will be declined in 13 versions for a total production of 387 aircraft.

The CAMS 37 was therefore manufactured in 13th versions.
