Jacques
GUILLEMIN DE MONPLANET, a former student at the Saint-Cyr military
academy, joined the Versailles air academy in 1939. He was posted
to the GB I/19 at Colomb-Béchar, then to the GC II/5
La Fayette at Bône. He took part in operations over Corsica
and France with this group.
He was posted to the Ministry of Air before leaving for Indochina
in 1949. In 1951, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of Allied
Air Forces Central Europe, then Operations Commander of the
1st Fighter Wing in Reims, and finally Commander of the 4th
Fighter Wing. He was assigned to the Inspectorate General of
the French Air Force before being appointed . Second-in-command
of the Mont-de-Marsan air base and air experiment centre in
1958, then commander of the Tours air base. In 1963, he became
Air Attaché to the French Embassy in Bonn, then Head
of the Export Section at the Direction du Matériel in
1966. Jacques Guillemin de Montplanet left the active army in
1969 with the rank of Air Brigadier General. |
