Historical

On May 10, 1940, the GB I / 12 is attached to the Group No. 6 of the 1st Air Division of the ZOAN (North Air Operations Area).

After the dissolution of the GB II / 12 in August 1940, the 1st Squadron of GB I / 12 repeats the traditions and insignia of the 4th Squadron of GB II / 12.

GB I / 12 participated in the Syrian Campaign in the summer of 1941. During this one, GB I / 12 lost 39 of the 49 LEO 451 sent to Syria.

Marcel BUCHETTE-PUYPEROUX took part in the two world conflicts of the 20th century.
He volunteered in 1914 and was posted to the 23rd Colonial Infantry Regiment. Wounded, he was transferred to the Observation Aviation at SALM 51. After the Armistice, he entered the Istres flying school and was certified on 15 May 1919. He spent three periods in Indochina between the two wars. On his return to Metropolitan France, he was posted to the 11th and then the 22nd Air Wing before being promoted to Commander of the GB I/12. He joined the Alliance network from 1942 to 1944.
