Bomber Group GB II/25

3rd Squadron
4th Squadron

Historical

The GB II/25, created on 1 January 1936, took over the traditions of the 4B1 and 4B2 squadrons of the Aéronautique Navale.
Initially equipped with Farman F268s, the Group received its first LéO H257Bis aircraft in October 1936.
When war was declared in September 1939, the GB II/25 was transferred to Bougie in Algeria to provide coastal surveillance and protection for convoys along the North African coast. In June 1940, the 4th Squadron was due to join the metropole to be converted to the LéO 451, but Italy's declaration of war disrupted these plans.
However, the conversion took place after the Armistice, at the end of July 1940. GB II/25 took part in the transfer of some aircraft to the Levant in the summer of 1941, before being disbanded after the Allied landings in North Africa on 8 November 1942..
