Exploration Squadron E-3


Historical

The unit was born in 1931 under the name 3-E2. It will be renamed E-3 from August 1935. At the outbreak of hostilities, the E-3 Squadron equipped with Breguet Bizerte, is based on the base of Berre pond and is under the command of Lieutenant CASENEUVE. This one will be replaced on November 14, 1939, by Lieutenant MOULIERAC.

On September 14, 1939, the Squadron was assigned to the KAROUBA base to replace the E-2 Squadron transferred to Lanvéoc-Poulmic. Follows from June 16th, long missions of surveillance and escort of convoys.

In February, two units of the unit are detached for ARZEW in Algeria. They will carry out surveillance missions to the Straits of Gibraltar or Port Liautey.

Renamed Escadrille 3E on August 1st, 1940, the unit will finally be dissolved on August 30, 1940
