WILLIAME
Robert - Eugène |
Captain
|
|
Robert Williame entered
the Saint-Cyr Military School in 1930. In 1932, he joined
the French Air Force with the rank of Second Lieutenant, and
was commissioned as a Military Pilot at Avord in 1933. He
joined the GC I/2 Group on 1 October 1934.
In July 1940, he contracted
scarlet fever and was forced to take a rest. He returned to
service in September, but as the GC I/2 Group had been disbanded
in August 1940, he was posted to the GC II/9, which he joined
on 2 October 1940. He took command of the 6th Squadron of
GC III/9. He was killed by accident on 31 October 1940 during
a simulated air battle on board a MB152 Bloch: he was "confronting"
Captain TRICAUD at the time, but his aircraft stalled at low
altitude, probably as a result of Captain WILLIAME feeling
unwell, still weakened by his illness.
