Historical

The Patrol of Rennes is set up earlier than the other Patrols: it sees the day early March 1940. The Polish pilots, come from the Rennes Pilot School, while the aircraft, 3 Dewoitine D501, are totally obsolete ... Antoni KOLUBINSKI, commander of the Patrol, still trains his pilots in acrobatics, shooting, or flying training. In early May, one of the pilots left the patrol with a D501, to join the Air Force School of Dinard, and among the two D501 still present, one of them will be sent to repair following motor problems ...

The Patrol is bereaved in mid-May following the accidental death of Sergeant KEDZORIA, crushed by a rolling bomber. Rare warnings occur despite all, without fortunately meeting the enemy, and a second D501 comes to strengthen the endowment. On June 13, Sergeant HOYDEN and Sub Lieutenant KOLUBINSKI transfer Dewoitine D501 to Clermont-Aulnat, and are themselves part of the local Patrol.
