Historical

Defense Patrols are trained to defend aircraft manufacturing plants or protect strategic sites. The Etampes Defense Patrol, created on May 14, 1940, is part of a Patrol Group N ° 1: Chartres / Chateaudun / Etampes / Orléans.

Its staff is composed of French instructor pilots from the Chartres CIC, reinforced by Czech and Polish pilots. It is commanded by a particular Ace of the First War: Colonel Marcel DHOMME.

The equipment of the Patrol is composed of Bloch 152 and Morane 406 which will be joined during the withdrawal by MS 410, or Asenal VG33 recovered in Villacoublay.

The planes will be evacuated to Bordeaux, where the Patrol of Etampes with that of Tours will form the GC I / 55, ephemeral unit, but equipped with recent aircraft (Arsenal VG33, Bloch MB155).
