Defense Patrols are
trained to defend aircraft manufacturing plants or protect strategic
sites. That of Angers is responsible for protecting the Polish Government
in exile, installed in the city.
The official instructions
for the creation of this Patrol are issued on May 24, 1940. Six
Polish pilots are seconded locally to constitute the Naviguant
personnel.
Four aircrafts, Bloch
MB 152, are planned to equip the formation. They are slow in coming,
however, and pilots are traveling to Tours to retrieve aircrafts.
Finally, the Polish
Government leaving the city, the six pilots will never return
to Angers ... Patrouille d'Angers ceased to exist.
