Georges ESCUDIER
enlisted voluntarily in 1927. He joined the Istres school and
did the EOR at Avord. He obtained his observer's licence and
was posted to the 11th aviation regiment in Metz, then to the
32nd in Dijon in 1929. He entered the École militaire
et d'application de l'aéronautique in Versailles in 1932,
and was posted to Metz in 1934, then to Bizerte in Tunisia in
1935, and finally to the 6th Wing in 1939. He took part in the
French Campaign as part of the ECMJ I/16. He was sent to the
Levant to the GC I/7 fighter group at Rayack (Syria) in October
1940. On his return to France, he was posted to the École
de l'Air and was responsible for training the chicks at the
École de l'Air (October 1941). He was placed on Armistice
leave in 1943 and began looking for a new job. He was granted
renewable leave until May 1944. He was posted to an Air Force
fire brigade and was then appointed commander of the Saint-Cyr
airfield. He was arrested in September 1944 by the FFI and interned
in Fresnes prison. He appeared before a people's commissioner
and was transferred to Saint-Denis, then to Drancy. He was charged
at Fresnes and released in April 1945. While waiting for the
case to be dismissed, he looked for work and became a housing
inspector. He was charged and appeared before the chamber; sentenced,
he appealed for clemency. But his conviction excluded him from
society. Nevertheless, he worked in the car industry and then
in real estate. Georges ESCUDIER was finally amnestied in 1956. |
