Group of Bombardment of Assault GBA II/54

3rd Squadron (SAL 1)
4th Squadron (SAL 259)

Historical

On October 16, 1939, the GB II / 54 joined on the airfield of Salon-En-Provence, GBA I / 54, the only Air Force Assault Bomber Group, and became the GBA II / 54 . He perceives on November 5, 1939, his first Breguet 691.

On December 4 GBA II / 54 is attached to the 6th Assault Bombardment Brigade.

On April 15, 1940, the GBA II / 54 received its first Breguet 693 and was attached to the Group n°. 18 of the 1st Air Division of the ZOAN (North Air Operations Area).

At the Armistice, GBA II / 54 is on the Mont-de-Marsan field. Learning that this field will be in the occupied zone, Lieutenant-Colonel Demery orders the Group 18 to join the field of Toulouse without taking into account the conditions of Armistice.

Only GBA I / 54 and GBA I / 51 are authorized by the Germans and the GBA II / 54 group is dissolved on August 9, 1940.
