André RICHARD joined
the French Air Force in April 1933. Posted to Compiègne
Air Base until 1935, he was then transferred to the 15th Bombardment
Wing at Avord Air Base. He obtained his Brevet de Mitrailleur
in 1937. He served in the GB I/15 during the French Campaign.
After the Armistice, he went on Armistice leave in December
1940.
In 1942, he rejoined the
Air Force with the rank of Warrant Officer and joined the
Resistance. He was wounded in 1944 while fighting with the
Auvergne Light Division. He was appointed a Lieutenant in
the Air Force, and after being posted to the Ecole des Cadres
de Meudon, then to Marrakech, he joined the C.S.E.A (Commandement
Supérieur des Ecoles de l'Air). He was killed on 16
December 1945 in the crash of an NC-701 Martinet.
