BERDELLOU Louis - Pierre

Louis Berdellou obtained his civilian pilot's licence at the Henriot flying school and was called up for military service in October 1938. He was initially posted to Marignane before joining the Avord flying school. On mobilisation in September 1939, he was posted to GAO 515, where he served throughout the French Campaign.
After the Armistice, he was posted to North Africa with GAO 545, before returning to Toulouse-Francazals where he was demobilised in December 1940.
Back in civilian life, Louis BERDELLOU had a career in teaching and finance.

After the Armistice of June 1940, Jean CORNET joined the Forces Françaises de l'Intérieur (FFI). He was killed on 8 September 1944 during the fighting to liberate Besançon.
Posthumously, he was appointed commander and awarded the Resistance medal.

He was killed on 7 January 1945 while fighting with the ‘Patrie’ group to reduce the ‘Médoc pockets’. His aircraft, Glenn-Martin 167F n°30, was shot down by flak and crashed in flames. The 5 crewmen were killed.

René PONT was called up in 1935. He joined the Ecole nationale de la France d'outremer before being posted to the GAO. 515 at Marignane in April 1939, then to the I/35 reconnaissance group at Romorantin in June 1940. He was demobilised in August 1940. In May 1943, he voluntarily joined the FAFL in Madagascar and reached Great Britain by sea. He was posted to the Lorraine group on 6 June 1944.
Demobilised in July 1945, he retired to Madagascar with the title of deputy administrator of the colonies and Air Force reservist.
