The GAR 518 (Regional Air Group), created on 1 January 1937 at the Mérignac base, became the GAO 518 at the beginning of 1938.
On May 10, 1940, the GAO
518 is attached to the 2nd Army of the 1st Air Division of the ZOAN
(North Air Operations Area).
