Historical
Squadron "B" did
not have time to be operational before the Armistice. Created in
April 1940, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Guillard,
it was to receive the first bombers Leo 451M, navalized version
of the aircraft. But the rapid advance of the Germans upsets this
project, and the first Leo 451 is taken into account May 28, 1940
in Orly by the Unit.
Other aircraft recovered
on different grounds, will later join the Escadrille B. The aircraft
will fly on 25 June 1940 to Algiers. After regrouping in Casablanca,
they will be assigned to the newly renamed "1B" Squadron.
