The unit, whose origin goes
back to 1925, knows several successive designations: 5B-3, 5B-1,
3B-1, and finally B-1 on October 1, 1938. It will be equipped with
Leo 258, then Leo H257 bis . At the outbreak of the conflict, under
the command of the Lieutenant TRAUB, Squadron B-1 leaves Berre l'Etang
to join the Lyautey port base.
From Port Lyautey which was
its base during all the Campaign of France, the squadron B-1 is
in charge of the surveillance of the Moroccan coasts. It will take
part in the anti-submarine fight and the protection of the convoys.
These missions will continue until the Armistice.
The unit will be dissolved
after the Armistice in August 1940.
