The Squadron B-5 is created
May 18, 1940 in Orly. Under the command of Lieutenant Commander
DAILLIERE, she must be equipped with Farman NC 223.4 "assigned"
by Air France. The first aircraft, the "Jules Verne" is
perceived on February 21, 1940. After conclusive tests, the aircraft
joins Toussus-Le-Noble to receive a military equipment there: machine
guns and bomb thrower; From May 8th, "Jules Verne" joined
Lanvéoc-Poulmic, base from which it will perform many night
missions long durations.
On the night of 7 to 8 June
1940, the aircraft will bomb Berlin and return safely after a 13:40
flight ...
The Armisitice of June 24
will not leave time to finish equipping the other two aircraft,
NC 223.4 "Camille Flammarion" and "Le Verrier".
