Fighter Squadron HC-1

Historical

The HC-1 Squadron was born on July 1st, 1939 under the orders of Lieutenant ZIEGLER. The squadron is equipped with Loire 210, single-engine Hydroplane fighting, which can be loaded and catapulted by the Ships. It is foreseen from the creation of the unit, that this one, destined to the formation, has a brief existence. After the dissolution, the pilots and aircraft must be dispatched to the HC-3 and HC-5 Squadrons to be created at the end of 1939 to equip the 2nd and 1st class cruisers of the Mediterranean.

But the concept quickly turns out to be inadequate: the Loiré 210 is inefficient and unable to provide the defense missions for which it was designed. On November 22, 1939, the Squadron was disbanded and the crews were regrouped at Orly to form the AC-3 Fighting Squadron.
