Historical
On March 20, 1940, GB II
/ 35 was assigned to Assault Aviation and became GBA II / 35. On
May 10, 1940, the GBA II / 35 belongs to the Groupement n°
19 of the Southeast Bombardment Aviation Training Group of the ZOAA
(Alpine Air Operations Zone).
However, in the face of GBA
losses in combat, the GBA II / 35 is removed from active units to
provide support to the other four Assault Aviation Groups. The GBA
I / 54 receives 15 crews and 4 Breguet 691, the GBA II / 54 receives
him 10 crews. The band is dissolved on August 30, 1940.

Bernard
BARBERON was called up in 1939 and was posted to the assault
aviation group at Châteauroux in May 1940. He managed
to escape from France and joined the FAFL on 25 August 1940
in Great Britain. He was posted to the TOE 5 squadron formed
at Odiham, to GRB 1 at Fort Lamy in September 1940, then to
Khartoum in April 1941. He was posted to FAFL headquarters in
the Middle East in July 1942. On his return to England, he passed
through Camberley, then was posted to the Lorraine
group in January 1944. Bernard BARBERON was posted to GT I/15
in 1945 before being demobilised in 1946 and transferred to
the reserves. |

On
June 8, 1940, the Breguet 691 n° 57 crashes by accident
during a training flight : At take-off, Sergeant BELOGROTE,
a young pilot just out of the Istres School, has switched his
propeller from low pitch to high pitch too quickly, thus choking
his engines : the aircraft crashes to the ground.
The unreliable Breguet 691 n°57 was in the process of being
reformed. Sergeant BELOGROTE asked to make a last test, and
asked that the machine gunner be replaced by sandbags. Sergeant
BELOGROTE was the only victim of the accident.
At the time of his burial, his comrades flew over the Church
and the cemetery for a last homage...

On December 3, 1939,
the Amiot 143 n°110, caught in the mist, crashes into
a Jura furs. Sergeant CHARBONNIER is the only survivor.
He was ejected 35 metres
into the air when he hit the trees. Seriously injured, he
was treated by nuns at the Pontarlier Hospital.
He later made a career in the Air Force, which he left with
the rank of Major. Marcel CHARBONNIER died in 2006, at the
age of 92

Abel
Desclerc graduated from the Ecole spéciale militaire
de Saint-Cyr in 1927, then from the Ecole militaire et d'application
de l'aéronautique in 1929. He was posted to the 2nd African
Aviation Group in 1931, then to the Colomb-Béchar base
in 1935. He joined the 35th defence wing in AFN in 1937. He
took command of GBA I/54 in May 1940.
After the Armistice, he was posted successively to the Jeunesse
et Montagne group, to the Service des oeuvres sociales de l'Air
in 1943, and finally to the Secretary of State for Industrial
Production in 1944. In 1945, he was assigned to the Tactical
Air Forces, and in 1947 to the CESA. In 1949, he did a traineeship
at the ESGA (Etudes Supérieures de Guerre Aérienne).
He was posted to the Armed Forces General Staff in 1949, to
CESA again in 1951, and finally to NATO College in 1958. Abel
Desclerc was placed on leave from the Air Crew in 1960. |

MAURIN entered the Ecole de l'Air in September 1938. On mobilisation,
he was posted to the Etampes Patrol before joining GBA II/35
on 12 May 1940. He was posted to AFN in June 1940 with GB II/62,
then to AOF in Thiès. He was placed on armistice leave
in March 1943. He was posted to the office of the General Secretary
for Air Defence. He was then posted successively to GB I/31,
GT III/15, GT I/62 and GT II/62. He was appointed to GT II/64
Anjou in Indochina in 1947, then second-in-command of the same
group. On his return in 1950, he was posted as second-in-command,
then commander of the air transport and liaison group at Villacoublay.
In 1952, he was posted to the Air Force Personnel Department,
before joining the Brétigny Air Experiment Centre in
1954. He was a trainee at the Ecole de Guerre in 1957. In 1959,
he was appointed head of the General Studies Office at the Air
Force General Staff. He is . Commander of the Mont-de-Marsan
military air base and experiment centre in 1960. He became Deputy
Chief of Staff of the French Air Force in 1963. He was appointed
Commander of the 3rd Air Region in 1966, then Commander of Air
Defence in 1967. He was a member of the Air Council and was
appointed Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces in 1971.
François Maurin left the active army in 1975. |

143 n° 110 : During a reconnaissance flight in the
night of December 2nd to 3rd 1939, the aircraft hit the ground
in the Forest of "La Joux" (Jura) because of the fog.
The crew was killed except for Sergeant CHARBONNIER, who was
ejected at 35 meters altitude when the aircraft hit the trees.
