Potez
63-11 n° 196 : On 19 June 1940, the aircraft was
travelling up the Rhône valley when it encountered difficult
weather conditions above Tournon-sur-Rhône: at around
6am, it went into a spin in the fog and crashed in the commune
of Cheminas in the Ardèche: the 3 members of its crew,
Sergeant FRAYSSINES, the pilot, Lieutenant COCHETEL, the observer,
and Sergeant COULOMMIERS, the radio gunner, parachuted. While
everything went well for the first two, Sergeant COULOMMIERS'
parachute went into a torch, killing him. A plaque in the Cheminas
church commemorates this event. |
