STROHM enlisted in 1917 with the 1st Regiment of African Chasseurs.
He was seconded to the Moroccan Aviation Service in 1918. He
was a student gunner at Meknès in 1919 in the BR 2 squadron,
was certified in 1920 and posted to the 2nd squadron, then to
the 37th aviation regiment in Morocco. He took part in operations
in Morocco. He became an instructor at the student mechanics
course in Rabat in 1925, then was posted to the 4th squadron
in Marrakech in 1930. He was transferred to the reserves in
1932. Mobilised in 1939, he was appointed observer to the 3rd
squadron of the 63rd Air Wing. In 1943, he became assistant
officer to the commander of the Marrakech airfield and took
part in the landings in Corsica and Provence. At the end of
the war, he was stationed in occupied Germany. Pierre STROHM
was demobilised in 1946. |

Roger VIEUGEOT first
enlisted in the infantry before joining the Air Force as
an observer. He was stationed in Morocco at the time of
mobilisation and fought in the French Campaign with GB II/63.
On 31 May 1940, his aircraft, the Glenn Martin 167F No 112,
was seriously damaged by Flak. Lieutenant VIEUGEOT was wounded.
After the Armistice, he left the Armistice Army and took
over the management of a sawmill in the Dordogne.
He joined the Resistance, but had to take refuge in Bordeaux
to escape the Germans. He joined the RAC Brigade, a group
of maquisards in south-west France. He became head of the
2nd Battalion, with which he took part in the liberation
of Périgueux, with his son at his side.
After the war, he was successively commander of Base Aérienne
115 at Orange-Caritat from 1947 to 1948, then of Base Aérienne
279 at Châteaudun from August 1953 to August 1958.
