This prototype
flew for the first time at the end of January 1938 in Caudebec-en-Caux
After his tests, the aircraft named Antares joined the E8 Squadron in
September 1939, where he made his first mission in the Atlantic at the
end of September 1939. The order for additional aircraft being canceled,
it will remain the only aircraft of the E-8 Squadron.
At the Armistice, in June 1940,
Antares was evacuated on Port Liautey in Morocco. Transferred to Squadron
4E based in Dakar, he participated, under the colors of Vichy, the
defense during the attack on the battleship Richelieu by the English
in Dakar on 24 and 25 September 1940. He will shoot on this occasion,
a biplane Fairey Swordfish.
In November 1942, after the
landing of Allies in North Africa, Antares joined the Free French
forces and continued its missions by providing patrols in the Central
and South Atlantic. In early June 1943, Antares will sink the German
submarine U-Boat U-105 near Dakar. He will be retired from service
in 1944
