A career of 16 years in the Air Force

Summary :

Henri DUPORT was born in 1907 in Nieuil l'Espoir, in Vienne.

On November 7, 1925, at the age of 18, he signed a 2-year commitment to military aeronautics and joined the 37th Aviation Regiment of Morocco. Corporal, patented gunner, he participates Immediately in the campaign of the Rif.
In 1927, he signed a new 3-year contract under the 37th RAO and was assigned to the 22nd RAO in Chartres. He returned to civilian life between 1930 and 1935, when he signed a new 2-year contract for the 3rd squadron stationed in Casablanca. A career non-commissioned officer in 1937, assigned to the GB II/63 at the time of the declaration of war in 1939, he participated with his unit in the French campaign, and when the unit retreated to Algeria, he takes part in air operations on Sicily and Libya. He will be named to the order of the Air Wing with the awarding of the War Cross with Bronze Star for a mission accomplished on May 26, 1940.


Patented aircraft commander in 1942, he was sent on a mission to France in the region of Marseille as an individual and will remain in the south of France until October 1944. He joined the bases of Agadir and Marrakech.
On March 27, 1946, he was placed in a retreat position by personal sailing age limit. Demobilized he resides in Morocco until 1960.
Henri Duport died in Perpignan in 1976.
